Azerbaijan proposing to jail pushers of dangerous drugs to 10 years

Those involved in the illicit trafficking of powerful or toxic substances in Azerbaijan will be sentenced to 10 years in prison, Report informs, citing proposed amendments to the Criminal Code in this regard.

Under the amendment, (Article 240: Illicit trafficking in strong or toxic substances for the purpose of sale), drug traffickers will be sentenced to 6 to 10 years in jail under Article 240.1, 240.2, and 240.3 of the Criminal Code for the sale of strong substances in large amounts as stipulated.
