Azerbaijan introducing fines for cybersecurity violations

Azerbaijan is introducing fines for violations of cybersecurity regulations.

Report informs that relevant amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses have been proposed for consideration by the Parliament.

According to the document, fines are established for failure to comply with the instructions of the authorized body for ensuring cybersecurity, preventing cyber threats and eliminating their consequences, as well as for failure to provide information on the results of digital investigations.

There are also fines for late reporting of cyber threats, cyber attacks and incidents, for failure to respond to requests from an authorized body within 24 hours, and for requests for digital investigations - within 5 business days.

Fines will be imposed for the lack of real-time monitoring of cyber threats and response measures, for violating the cybersecurity requirements of facilities performing socially significant functions, as well as for failure to provide conditions for conducting investigations and violating the integrity of the data obtained.

For these violations, officials will be fined from 500 to 1000 manats, legal entities - from 100 to 2000 manats.

In addition, for acting as computer incident response centers without being included in the appropriate register, officials will be fined 1,000-1,500 manats, legal entities - 1,500-2,500 manats.
