Baku. 9 October. REPORT.AZ/ Penalties for acts constituting threats for aviation security have been defined in Azerbaijan.
Report informs that an article is annexed to the Criminal Code in this regard.
According to the annexed article #270 (Acts constituting aviation security), applying force on a person on the aircraft during the flight, any threat by such a force will be punished with fining from AZN 500 to AZN 1,000, or correctional works for up to the period of one year, or restriction of freedom for six months, or sentencing to six months of imprisonment.
Deliberate communication of false information to the aircraft during the flight or intentional destroying, damaging the air navigation devices or interfering with their operation, any threat to the aircraft during the flight shall be subject to a fine in the amount from one-fold to threefold cost of the damage, or correctional works for up to the period of two years or restriction of freedom for one year, or sentencing to one-year imprisonment.
Deliberate destruction and causing a serious damage to any device of the airport or useless aircrafts, deliberate breakage of the airport services, any threat to airport security will be punished with through fining in the amount from twofold to fourfold cost of damage, or restriction of freedom from 3 to 5 years, or sentencing to imprisonment from 3 to 6 years.
Deliberate destruction of an aircraft, as well as posing any threat through deliberate damage to the aircraft will be punished with fining in the amount from threefold to fivefold cost of the damage, or restriction of freedom from 3 to 8 years.
Illegal placement of any device and substance, which will cause destruction of the aircraft or pose a threat to the aircraft, or deliberate permission of the placement of such a device will be punished with restriction of freedom from 10 to 14 years.
The draft amendments will be discussed at the plenary session of the parliament in the coming days.
