Political parties comment on generals’ frontline visit

Members of the political parties have expressed views on the recent visit of the Assistant to the Azerbaijani President – Head of the Military Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Colonel-General Maharram Aliyev, Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and other senior officials of the ministry to the military units on the frontline zone.

According to the Great Establishment Party Chairman, MP Fazil Mustafa, such visits make the enemy anxious, and this concern is too important for Azerbaijan, Report says.

He believes the visit of the Presidential Aide and Defence Minister to the frontline is useful for the military.

“Such visits serve to raise enthusiasm and become more familiar with the situation. That is also favorable for soldiers and officers to communicate directly with the higher command, and express their views and complaints,” MP Mustafa said.

According to the party chair, it’s crucial to increase the vigilance of soldiers during the coronavirus outbreak across the world, and this visit is of considerable significance in this regard. “There are some changes in the process of conscription and demobilization due to pandemic. Therefore, it is a very positive step to investigate the situation on the spot. That is also a powerful message to the enemy, which expresses that the Azerbaijani side has not reconciled with the occupation of its lands and will fight to the last drop of blood,” he said.

Chairman of the Ana Vatan (Motherland) Party, MP Fazail Agamali assessed the generals’ visit to the frontline as measures aimed at increasing the combat capability of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, providing the latest weapons and military equipment to the army, as well as raising the social status of personnel to modern requirements.

He said that the potential of the Azerbaijani Army allows liberating our lands from the Armenian occupation in a short time. “One of the priorities of President Ilham Aliyev is to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities. The president has launched significant projects since 2003, and the Defence Ministry, as well as the Armed forces, have made tremendous progress. The funds allocated to the Azerbaijani military exceed the state budget of Armenia, as it should be because 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories are under Armenian occupation. No severe pressure is exerted against Armenia at the international level. However, as an aggressor country, it must face sanctions, but it does not. This country does not comply with the decisions and resolutions of the UN Security Council and various bodies, and the peace talks fail to yield productive results. So we have not been left any other choice but war. Therefore, such measures are taken to increase the combat capability of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces at various levels.

The MP believes that the day is not far away when we will liberate the occupied lands. “We are already approaching that last battle to celebrate the historic victory. The reforms that President Ilham Aliyev has carried out in the defense field since 2013, especially the appointment of Zakir Hasanov as the minister, played a vital role in increasing the combat capability of our servicemen and improving their conditions. Today, the Defense Ministry, under the leadership of Zakir Hasanov, is fully prepared for war against Armenia. However, but there are certain factors at the international level that are delaying us from starting and winning the war,” he stressed.

Recently, under the instruction of the Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, Assistant to the President– Head of the Military Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Colonel-General Maharram Aliyev, the Minister of Defense Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and the leadership of the ministry visited the forward-deployed military units.

After hearing reports on the operational situation on the line of contact of the troops, Colonel-General Aliyev and Colonel General Hasanov observed the enemy’s forward positions. The minister gave relevant instructions to maintain the constant combat readiness of the units.

The minister has met with service members serving in combat positions in the direction of the Talish village and inquired about their service conditions. During the meeting with the military personnel, Colonel General Aliyev spoke about the continuation of activity to fulfill the instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief to increase the combat effectiveness of the Azerbaijan Army and improve the social conditions of service members. He emphasized that these issues are in the focus of constant attention of the country’s leadership.

Then the generals met with crews of tanks, checked their combat readiness, and inquired about their service.
