Deputy Minister: Ukrainian army better prepared for war than German army

"Even if Germany is not ready to supply Ukraine with weapons today, it is making great efforts within the Normandy format to establish a military-political dialogue," Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Oleksandr Polishchuk said in a comment on Germany's refusal to sell weapons and ammunition to his country, Report's Eastern Europe bureau informs.

"We are currently holding a series of consultations. Therefore, in my opinion, this is an evolutionary process. If Germany decides to help Ukraine with weapons and military equipment, we will be ready for it. We know our existing needs; we also know who we can sign new contracts with. It is not about supplying weapons free of charge in the form of a charity event. We are talking about a simple partnership, which involves signing a contract and obtaining a license."

The deputy defense minister said that the combat capability of the Ukrainian army is at a high level:

"Today, the Ukrainian army is better prepared to go to war than the German army. I am well aware of the current situation in the German Armed Forces, so we have also issues to share to improve the defense capabilities of our powerful partner, such as Germany," he said.
