Azerbaijan's mine problem discussed at Moscow meeting of SCO and CIS defense ministers

The meeting of the defense ministers of the member-states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Moscow on December 9.

Report informs citing Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense that Azerbaijan was represented by major general Huseyn Mahmudov, chief of Department of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense.

Mahmudov detailed the participants about the crimes committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan throughout 30 years.

The department chief noted that ensuring security in the liberated territories and restoration work conducted there is one of the main tasks facing the government of Azerbaijan.

He noted that the landmines planted by the Armenian armed groups in the territories liberated from occupation slow down the reconstruction work and that in the post-war period, 268 Azerbaijanis were killed and injured as a result of mine explosions.
