Baku. 11 December. REPORT.AZ/ A delegation led by the Islamic Republic of Iran Border Guard Commander Qasem Rezaee is on a visit in Azerbaijan.

Report informs citing the Press Service the State Border Service Press that during the visit the delegation laid wreaths to the grave of national leader Heydar Aliyev and Zarifa Aliyeva, expressed their respect and reverence.

As part of an expanded meeting, the delegations exchanged views on the current state of the Azerbaijani and Iranian state border and state border checkpoints, their development trends, as well as considered the state of the collaboration in the fields of drug trafficking, international terrorism, illegal migration, smuggle of prohibited goods and other threats to border security.

Chief of the State Border Service, Colonel General Elchin Guliyev informed about the high level of protection of the country's borders thanks to the high state care provided to the border security of Azerbaijan. It was noted that Armenia continues to occupy 20% of Azerbaijan's territory, including a part of Azerbaijan-Armenia and Azerbaijan-Iran border, which remains a major threat to border security.

The delegations positively assessed the dynamics of bilateral cooperation.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation on the issues arising from the “Protocol on cooperation of the border organizations and mutual activity in the Caspian Sea in addition to the Protocol on Cooperation in Combating Organized Crime in the Caspian Sea to the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Security in the Caspian Sea of November 18, 2010”, providing state security, combating transboundary crimes and other relevant directions.
