In the current information space, there is a special need for media literacy to obtain accurate, reliable, and unbiased information, Ismat Sattarov, chairman of Azerbaijan’s Audiovisual Council, said at the Media Literacy conference.
Sattarov stated that media literacy is the ability to find, evaluate, and effectively use needed information:
"Understanding information, critical thinking, comprehending journalism principles, understanding how media operates, and realizing that information and events spread in media don't always reflect reality form the basis of media literacy. Proper use of information is extremely important not only for journalists but also for people of all categories."
Sattarov noted that in this context, it is very important for media literacy to be included in everyone's education:
"Including media literacy in educational programs at various levels has become a necessity of our time."
