UNDP: ANAMA operates at high level

Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action operates at a high level using the best technologies, Steinar Essen, Global Mine Action and Development Advisor for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), said at a conference on demining in Shusha, jointly organized by the UNDP and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), Report informs.

"Until now, demining works have been carried out mainly at the expense of the country's own resources. ANAMA operates at a high level using the best technologies. Azerbaijan has declared that it is ready to apply for donors in this process. We seek to involve the EU and UK government in this process and benefit from their experiences in demining," Essen said.

According to him, significant changes have occurred in the demining since the end of the war: "When I visited Karabakh after the war, the situation related to mines was terrible because there was a lack of information. But there have been big changes in two years."
