UN, EU and WB experts to visit liberated territories

A mission consisting of experts from the United Nations, the European Union (EU), and the World Bank have arrived in Azerbaijan to assess the needs of restoration and reconstruction in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of the Recovery and Peacebuilding Assessment (RPBA).

According to Report, the visit will focus on the needs and works carried out in Agdam, Fuzuli, and Jabrayil districts.

During the visit, the delegation met with the leadership of the Interdepartmental Center under the Coordination Headquarters established in connection with the centralized settlement of issues in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the heads of working groups operating under the Center.

Nusrat Suleymanov, Deputy Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Head of the Secretariat of the Interdepartmental Center, briefed the guests on the activities of the Coordination Headquarters and the importance of the existing interdepartmental coordination mechanism in the implementation of restoration and construction works in the liberated lands of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the meeting, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories of the Karabakh economic region (except Shusha) Emin Huseynov stressed the importance of the expert mission and said they would get acquainted with the work done during the delegation's visit to the region.

Then the heads of the working groups of the Interdepartmental Center informed the guests about the demining of the liberated territories, preparation of the General Plan, Master Plans of cities, communication, creation of transport infrastructure, sustainable economic development, energy supply, ecological situation, and reforestation, the current state and restoration of historical and cultural monuments, the work done to return the population to the area.

Later on, the guests were provided with statistics on the work done in the liberated territories.

The sides exchanged views on issues of expert interest. As a result of the visit, the expert mission will prepare a preliminary report.
