The UN condemns the shelling of settlements in and outside the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, including the attack on the Azerbaijani city of Barda, UN Secretary-General's Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a briefing in New York.
"We strongly condemn all strikes on settlements, including Barda attack, which killed many people and injured many others. There can be no basis for such aggressions," Dujarric noted.
The spokesman reiterated that the UN chief called on the parties to observe a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes and fulfill their obligations to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
On October 28, 21 people were killed, and about 70 were injured when the Armenian armed forces hit civilians and trade facilities in Barda with cassette missiles banned by international law.
