Taras Kuzio: Peace treaty to create new opportunities for Armenia

The European Union can contribute to the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Professor Taras Kuzio of the National University of Ukraine Kyiv-Mohyla Academy says, Report informs.

Normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia is possible if Russia is not involved in it, the expert believes.

“Russia is not interested in resolving any conflict in the post-Soviet space. And the experience of 30 years has shown this - the conflicts were not resolved either in Moldova, or in Georgia, or in Ukraine. It is good that the European Union is now more involved in the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Perhaps, there will be a breakthrough in reaching a peace treaty," Kuzio said.

In his opinion, there is a chance to reach a peace agreement and bring about stability in the region. "This will benefit both countries, including Armenia, which suffers from a lack of economic opportunities. And the peace treaty creates new opportunities in this regard," he concluded.
