Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the peacekeeping efforts carried out in Karabakh, including the activities of the joint Turkish-Russian monitoring center, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states in Minsk.

According to Report, in his speech, the minister noted that as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was ensured. He also spoke about the issues arising from the trilateral statements of November 10, 2020, and January 11, 2021.

The minister provided information about the mine threat in the region and the severe consequences it carries. The minister informed the meeting participants about the destruction of the historical, religious and cultural heritage in the territory of Azerbaijan as a result of the occupation policy of Armenia.

He stressed that the conflict is now a thing of the past. Azerbaijan is ready to normalize relations with Armenia based on respect for the principles of international law, in particular sovereignty, territorial integrity of states, and inviolability of borders.

It was noted that Azerbaijan calls for the start of the delimitation and demarcation of borders with Armenia in compliance with the indicated principles. The minister stressed Azerbaijan's commitment to obligations arising from trilateral statements, including agreements on opening all communication links in the region.

The minister also expressed confidence that the opening of communication links will benefit all states of the region and strengthen the role of the South Caucasus in international transport projects. He noted that the country's primary goal is to restore the liberated territories and ensure the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands. Bayramov also spoke about the restoration and construction work carried out in the liberated territories.
