A group of famous international travelers on a visit to Azerbaijan got acquainted with the demining process in the Aghdam district liberated from the Armenian occupation, Report informs.
Regional operational manager of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Ehtiram Jafarov told the guests about how the area is being cleared and the mines and ammunition found are being neutralized.
He noted that the main task at the moment is to clear the roads and main transport infrastructure of mines.
“At the moment, a section of the railway is being cleared of mines. About two kilometers of the road have been cleared, more than 40 mines have been found. More than 100 mines were found on the roads alone,” Jafarov said.
He noted that based on the mine maps handed over by Armenia, 97,000 mines are planted in the territory of the Aghdam district.
On September 27, a commercial test flight to the Fuzuli International Airport took place. A group of world-famous international travelers arrived in Fuzuli, then they visited Aghdam and Shusha.
