Çavuşoğlu: We should unite efforts for lasting peace in the region

"It is necessary to combine our capabilities and efforts to create and strengthen trust between the parties. After that, we can establish lasting peace and normalize relations between the two countries," Report quotes Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

At a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart in Sochi, he spoke about the goals and future activities of the Russian-Turkish joint center to observe the ceasefire in Karabakh.

"The President of Azerbaijan extended a hand of friendship, showed goodwill. Besides, Turkey also expressed its position. Azerbaijan and Turkey- we want to normalize our relations with Armenia. It is normal and must be done. We will coordinate our work with Azerbaijan on this issue."

He also stressed that Ankara considers cooperation with Russia essential and stands for peace and prosperity of the entire region.
