Armenians flee throwing away ammunition - PHOTO

Military units of Armenian Armed Forces have recently been violating the ceasefire intensively in various directions of the front, the press services of the State Border Service, and the Military Prosecutor's Office said in a joint statement.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces thwarted the diversion attempt made by the Armenian Armed Forces from their units near Koti village of Noyemberyan region in the direction of a border post of the State Border Service in Gushchu Ayrim village of Gazakh region on February 24, 2020, at 07:00. The enemy was forced to retreat, having suffered losses.

Valiyev Ibrahim Alamshah, an Azerbaijani border guard, died heroically while preventing the Armenian provocation committed using grenade launchers and other large-caliber arms.

The Azerbaijani side has found a 100-round ammunition box for PK machine gun, one unexploded RQ-42 hand grenade, 66 cartridges of 7,62mm, and a bag of the subversive-intelligence group (with canned foods, water supplies, and bakery products in it) on the scene. The enemy had those items during the armed attack on the border post and was forced to throw away while fleeing.

Azerbaijan's Military Prosecutor's Office launched criminal proceedings into the fact under charges of Articles 120.2.12, 29,120.2.4, 29,120.2.7, and 29,120.2.12 of the Criminal Code revealing that the enemy's sabotage group committed a provocation to kill our military servicemen deliberately and seize our combat post.

Necessary investigative-operational measures are ongoing.

The Chief of the State Border Service awarded some border guards with medals, valuable gifts, and honorary orders for their distinguished service in preventing the enemy's armed provocation. Valiyev Ibrahim Alamshah was posthumously awarded the Medal 'For Distinction in Military Service' III degree.

Armenian armed forces' military units keep committing provocative acts on the contact line. On March 1, Armenians fired at border checkpoints of Gazakh combined-arms border division of the State Border Service near Khanliglar and Gushchu Ayrim villages of Gazakh region using large-caliber machine guns. However, the enemy was silenced by retaliatory fire.
