"New settlements by Armenians in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan contradicts both history and law."
Professor of Istanbul University, Doctor of Historical Sciences Khalil Bal, told Report that, by doing so, Armenians are trying to change the agenda and evade responsibility:
"The Armenians have occupied the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan and seven adjacent regions, and the whole world recognizes this. The resettlement of Lebanese Armenians in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan is illegal. This is entirely unacceptable. Countries like Azerbaijan and Turkey, acting within the legal norm's framework, must express their position and show Armenia its place. "
According to the historian, Armenia's responsibility before the world community, legislation, and international law should be aimed at finding ways to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: "There is a problem that needs to be addressed. Armenians must return these lands to their real owners. Azerbaijan is a modern, legal state. Armenians who have lived in Azerbaijani lands for many years could use their right of citizenship.
Armenia intends to evade the solution of significant problems and will not calmly leave the occupied lands. Therefore, it is necessary to activate international mechanisms that will force Armenia to leave the Azerbaijani lands, and, if necessary, to use weapons. If the Armenians do not want war, they must respect international law and resolve the issue peacefully. They expect to settle forever in the occupied lands thanks to their foreign patrons. But neither Azerbaijan, Turkey, nor other states observing international law will allow this, and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will find its solution soon. "
