Armenia endangers civilians for refusal to provide Azerbaijan with minefield maps - lawyer

Armenia is refusing to provide maps of minefields of the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, American lawyer Donald Francis Donovan said at the UN International Court of Justice in the Hague during the hearings into Azerbaijan’s lawsuit against Armenia over the violation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

Report informs that in this regard, the lawyer called on the International Court of Justice to urgently apply interim measures against Armenia.

He outlined what issues Azerbaijan is concerned about at the moment and referred them to the Hague Court for consideration: “First of all, Azerbaijan asks Armenia to provide comprehensive and adequate information on the location and characteristics of landmines planted on the territory of Azerbaijan. These are anti-personnel mines that Armenia has planted for the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijani territories from Azerbaijanis and to prevent their safe return to their homeland."

"Because of this, civilians in Azerbaijan are in fatal danger. Every day, every minute, every second, even when we are here today, a mine can explode, and one life can be lost," he said.
