31 years pass since Aghdaban genocide

Today is the 31st anniversary of the Aghdaban genocide.

Report informs that on the night of April 8, 1992, Armenians completely burnt and razed to the ground the Aghdaban village of Kalbajar region, consisting of 130 houses. 779 civilians of the village were subjected to inhuman tortures, 67 people were killed, 8 people aged 90 to 100, 2 minors and 7 women were burnt alive.

The destruction of the manuscripts of poet Aghdabanli Gurban and master of classic ashug poetry Dede Shamshir is yet another manifestation of the continuation of the vandalism policy committed by Armenians against Azerbaijan's cultural heritage.

Giving the legal and political assessment to the tragedy for the first time, national leader Heydar Aliyev named Aghdaban events the greatest crime against humanity and described it as a shame to all humanity.
