The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is actively implementing so-called "housing profiles" as a tool for diagnosing and reforming housing policy in Arab states, Nihal El-Megharbel, Housing Expert at the UN-Habitat Regional Bureau for Arab States, said during a panel discussion at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
She reported that the profiles include three key components: diagnosing the state of the housing sector, identifying priority issues, and formulating recommendations for reforms.
According to El-Megharbel, this tool is used to establish investment frameworks and monitoring, and also contributes to the localization of the SDGs by taking into account the specificities of each country.
