Housing should be made central to the urbanization process on the African continent, Anaclaudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said at the regional ministerial meeting for African countries during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
"If housing is not addressed, urbanization risks becoming chaotic and exclusionary. Housing has a significant multiplier effect: it contributes to GDP growth, creates new jobs, and stimulates local economic development. Therefore, I call for housing to be placed at the center of Africa's urbanization," Rossbach emphasized.
