The implementation of international frameworks related to the rights of persons with disabilities at the local governance level is one of the priorities, Federico Batista Poitier, Accessibility Policy Expert at the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), during World Urban Forum 13 in Baku.
Report quotes him as saying United Cities and Local Governments represents more than 250,000 municipalities worldwide, and its main goal is to transform the global agenda into real results at the local level.
"Although the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is the main legal framework, the key issue is how municipalities apply these principles in their daily activities," he noted.
