The Kazakh side is ready to act as a regional food center, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the general political debate within the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Report informs referring to TASS.
It is necessary to think about improving the global food security system. Almost 10% of the world’s population faced hunger in the past year. It is necessary to increase the voluntary exchange of information on food, including the volume of production, export and import of food products. Kazakhstan is ready to act as a regional food hub, he said.
He noted that the republic has all the necessary resources, infrastructure and logistics for this.
Kazakhstan is already a reliable link for almost 80% of land transit traffic between Asia and Europe, Tokayev noted.
In this regard, the head of state drew attention to the fact that the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) is capable of significantly strengthening the interaction between East and West.
This route can increase the pace of trade between critical markets, almost halving the time it takes to transport goods by sea, the president of Kazakhstan emphasized.
