Tinatin Kolbaia: Georgia aims to develop unified housing policy

Georgia is planning large-scale reforms aimed at creating a unified state housing policy, Georgia's First Deputy Head of Georgia's Spatial and Urban Development Agency (SUDA) Tinatin Kolbaia said during an event held within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

According to Report, Kolbaia noted that housing-related issues in Georgia remain highly fragmented and are currently managed by various профильные agencies and state institutions.

"So far, we do not have a single framework law that fully covers the housing sector," she said.

According to Kolbaia, with the support of UN-Habitat, Georgia's National Urban Forum in 2024 was entirely dedicated to housing issues.

"Following the forum, the main provisions of the Housing Policy White Paper, prepared by expert Vladimir Mardosani, were developed," the agency representative stated.

She added that key issues related to the development of the housing sector have now been integrated into the overall concept of the country's National Spatial Plan.
