State Traffic Police: Situation regarding pedestrians in Baku causes concern

Baku. 1 September. REPORT.AZ/ Today situation regarding pedestrians in Baku causes concern. Pedestrian accidents consist 57% of total accidents on Baku since beginning of the year.

Report informs, spokesperson of Baku Main Traffic Police Department told reporters.

'We really have problems regarding pedestrians. Our officials conduct raids in the most underground and overhead pedestrian crossings to bring pedestrians to responsibility. So far, 90 000 pedestrians were detained. It means lack of discipline among pedestrians. I think that it doesn't depend only on the Main Traffic Police, but also on pedestrians themselves. For example, parents bear responsibility at home, teachers at school and we on the streests', V.Asadov said.

According to him, drivers should be able to regulate traffic without traffic police: 'Today we have drawn up a lot of protocols regarding stop-moving action as currently, large number of our employees are serving in '20 Yanvar', Shamakhinka and other areas. It is an entrance to the capital from the north direction. Normal conditions must be established for traffic here. If drivers don't comply with stop-moving requirements, then traffic becomes difficult. Each driver must fulfill requirements of road signs without control by traffic police. Those, who park their vehicles in the prohibited area must follow the defined rules'.
