Baku. 2 August. REPORT.AZ / Taxi drivers in Spain returned to work after a six-day strike, Report informs citing the AR.
Taxi drivers agreed to end the strike the night before after the Ministry of Development of Spain offered to transfer to the regional authorities the right to limit the issuance of licenses to online taxi services.
Notably, taxi drivers demanded that 30 licenses would be issued for “normal” taxi for each license given to taxi services such as Uber and Cabify. With the growth of activity of taxi services in major cities of Spain, this proportion was not observed, that caused concern among taxi drivers.
During the protests, the participants of the strike blocked large streets in Barcelona and Madrid, the strike caused problems with transport in the area of airports, railway stations and hospitals.
