Well-designed housing policy contributes to the preservation of water resources, Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of UN-Habitat, said during a conference held within the framework of World Urban Forum 13 in Baku.
Report quotes her as saying proper urbanization management and effective housing policy reduce pressure on natural resources, especially water resources.
"If urbanization is managed properly and housing policy is structured effectively, we will automatically preserve water reserves as well. Currently, urbanization processes are not aligned with nature, which creates additional pressure on water resources," Rossbach noted.
