In many communities, problems with sanitation and water infrastructure have remained unresolved for decades, Rose Molokoane, Special Representative of Slum Dwellers International, said at a conference as part of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
She noted that in some settlements, sewage still flows through the streets.
"Residents are still forced to defecate in the open due to the lack of sanitation infrastructure. Local and national governments only make promises. Policies shouldn't remain on paper; they must be translated into real results," Molokoane stated.
