Mukhtar Babayev calls for climate change considerations in urban planning

Climate change must become one of the key factors in the planning and development of cities, as cities today are at the center of climate challenges, Mukhtar Babayev, the Presidential Representative of Azerbaijan for Climate Issues, said within the framework of WUF13.

Report quotes him as saying the modern world is facing serious geopolitical and climate challenges.

"Climate change is of great importance. According to the World Meteorological Organization, the hottest days are currently being recorded. Cities are at the center of these climate changes, and these processes affect millions of people," Mukhtar Babayev noted.

He emphasized the importance of early warning systems in reducing the impact of climate-related threats.

Babayev also noted that the consequences of climate change are already being directly felt in the region.
