The stability of the Middle Corridor, Azerbaijan's investments in the transport sector, and expanding relations in this field are turning the Turkic world into one of the main actors in the global economic system, Azerbaijani MP Tahir Mirkishili said at the "Turkic Investment Fund and Turkic Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (TCCI): Information Meeting and B2B for Business Leaders" event held in Baku.
The MP noted that five international transport corridors passing through the territory of the Turkic world further boost the strategic importance of the region: "Before the world was fighting for straits, today there is a struggle for corridors. Most of these transport corridors pass through the Turkic world, and the largest one passes through Azerbaijan's territory."
According to him, the strengthening of the Turkic world depends on economic and technological development: "The main reason for the Turkic world's lagging behind has been the lack of investment and technology. Today, as a result of the wise and future-oriented policies of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and other brotherly countries, a very important power has been formed. The world is changing rapidly, and a new order is emerging. In this new order, the role of the Turkic world has special strategic importance."
Mirkishili noted that economic and technological development should be the main priority for future generations. According to him, it is impossible to achieve this goal without paying attention to economy, investment, and technology:
"Currently, important initiatives such as the Turkic Investment Fund and the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry are being discussed. However, in the future, we should talk about Turkic technologies, artificial intelligence, and innovative products. Only in this case will the Turkic world not face any threats."
