Kyrgyzstan eyes using Trans-Caspian corridor for cargo transportation

Kyrgyzstan plans to use the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (Middle Corridor) for road and rail transportation from Kyrgyzstan and China to European countries, Deputy Head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev said at the Investor Forum on EU-Central Asia Transport Links, Report informs referring to Kyrgyz media.

He noted that this path will become another basis for uniting the regions and ensuring not only their economic growth, but also economic security.

“Sadyr Japarov (President of Kyrgyzstan) attaches great importance to strengthening the transit potential of our country and the region. We are actively working on the construction of new roads and modernization of existing transport arteries in order to integrate into large international transport networks. Our goal is to create a sustainable and efficient infrastructure that will contribute development of the economy of Kyrgyzstan and strengthening trade relations between Europe and Central Asia,” said Torobaev.
