High-speed train to connect Baku and Balakan by early 2025

A new high-speed train service connecting the capital city of Baku with the northwestern town of Balakan is set to launch by the end of 2024 or early 2025, Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, told Report.
"Preparations are underway. The railway infrastructure towards Balakan is being renovated, as this railway line is completely outdated," he said.
According to him, sleeping cars will be used on the Baku-Balakan-Baku route.
