Building sustainable and livable cities requires greater integration across sectors, Sebastian Herold, a representative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, said at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
He stated that the German development cooperation model for combating rapid urbanization is based on a cross-sectoral approach.
"Adequate housing and decent living conditions in cities are impossible without reliable water and sanitation services. It is necessary to strengthen the links between urban sectors such as housing, transport, water supply, and waste management, remove barriers between them, and work in a coordinated manner," he said.
