Freight traffic from China to Turkiye via Middle Corridor may be reduced

The duration of cargo transportation from China to Turkey via the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor) can be reduced from 12 to 10 days, the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said at the next meeting of the Presidium and General Meeting of the Association of Legal Entities of the International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” held in Ankara, Report informs.

According to him, the goal is to reduce the time.

The minister added that the Russia-Ukraine war has limited the freightage via the North Corridor. Therefore, the Middle Corridor is considered an alternative in terms of distance and time: “The corridor, which stretches from the West of Anatolia to the East, allows the trade to spread to other continents, even the world. If a China-Europe freight train chooses the Middle East and Turkiye, it will cover 7,000 km in 12 days instead of 10,000 km. So, it will show how the corridor in trade between Asia and Europe is profitable and safe. If the same train is sent through the Southern Corridor, it will cover 20,000 kilometres by ship through the Suez Canal. We’ll further strengthen the Middle Corridor.”
