Freight traffic between Azerbaijan and China by rail increases sharply

The Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Rovshan Rustamov, met with the head of the delegation of China Railways State Corporation, Huan Xin, Report informs, citing the company.

Possible perspectives on bilateral cooperation and innovations implemented in the railway sector of both countries were discussed at the meeting.

Rustamov talked about expanding the transport and logistics capabilities of his country, active participation in international transport corridors, and steps that can be taken in the direction of increasing cargo transportation by railway transport. He noted that this year, compared to the same period last year, import shipments with China increased by 549% and export shipments by 331%. In general, compared to the same period last year, freight transportation between the two countries by rail increased by 47%.
