Brazil prioritizes transit-oriented urban development, Cristiane Scorza, Director of Urban and Metropolitan Development at the Brazilian Ministry of Cities, said at an event during WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
She stated that Brazil has developed a concept for urban development and mobility that calls for the coordination of public policies, plans, and programs across multiple levels of government to ensure inclusive and sustainable urbanization.
"Within this concept, TOD (Transit-Oriented Development)-transit-oriented development-is fully consistent with an integrated urban vision. The main goal is to stimulate the concentration of residential areas and socio-economic activity near transportation hubs and public transportation stations, increasing the density of development in these areas," she said.
