Civil Aviation Agency: New aircraft key to slashing aviation's carbon footprint

Adoption of cutting-edge technologies, digital development, optimized flight routes, and the use of new, eco-friendly aircraft are key to slashing carbon emissions in aviation, Arif Mammadov, Director of the State Civil Aviation Agency, said, emphasizing the country's commitment to reducing emissions in the coming years, according to Report.

Azerbaijan has set an ambitious target of cutting aviation-related emissions by 50% by 2030, he said.

The World Aviation Summit, attended by Mammadov, serves as a platform to discuss the environmental damage caused by air travel and explore solutions.

Mammadov said the use of digital and high-tech innovations will be a key topic of discussion, particularly in light of the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
