Cargo transportation through TRACECA's Azerbaijan segment grows by about 7%

In January 2022, the cargo volume transported on the Azerbaijani part of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) was 3,490,800 tons, and the cargo turnover made up 803.7 million ton/km, respectively, down 6.5% and 4.3% from the same period last year.
Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee, that 1,959,800 tons (56.2%) of all cargo were carried out by road, 1,125,300 tons (32.2%) - by rail, 405,700 tons (11.6%) - by sea.
In the total volume of cargo transportation along the corridor, 22.4% or 5,311,400 tons were transit cargo, 355,800 tons or 7.2% more than a year earlier.
Transit cargo made 23.1% or 806,300 tons of cargo transported via the corridor.
