Cargo transportation in TRACECA's Azerbaijan segment rises by 10%

In January-August 2021, the volume of cargo transported on the Azerbaijani part of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) was 27,142,500 tons, and the cargo turnover was 6,408,300,000 ton/km, respectively, down 28,000 tons or 0.1% from in the same months of 2020.
However, compared to a year earlier, the cargo turnover increased by 139.2 million ton/km or 2.2% in the reporting period.
According to statistics, 15,224,100 tons (56.1%) of all cargo were carried out by road, 8,819,300 tons (32.5%) - by rail, 3,099,100 tons (11.4%) - by sea.
In the total volume of cargo transportation along the corridor, 22.3% or 6,043,100 tons were transit cargo, 543,100 tons or 9.9% more than a year earlier.
