Azerbaijan Railways sees 21% surge in passenger traffic

In a remarkable development, Azerbaijan's rail transport sector has experienced a significant boost in the first five months of 2024. According to the State Statistics Committee, 7.7 million tons of cargo and 3,268,800 passengers were transported by rail from January to May, marking a 0.9% and 20.9% increase respectively compared to the same period last year.
The State Statistics Committee further revealed that on average, 371 wagons were loaded and 422 wagons were unloaded daily over the five-month period. The Northern direction of the railway handled 17,200 tons, the Western direction 3,800 tons, and the Southern direction 800 tons of loading operations.
