Azerbaijan nears completion of talks on data center in Alat FEZ

Azerbaijan is close to completing negotiations on the construction of a data center in the Alat Free Economic Zone (FEZ), Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Hasanov said at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, the country needs to establish high-performance computing capacity.

"Computing requires reliable power supply, connectivity, and physical space, and we believe Azerbaijan has all three. Azerbaijan is strategically located between Europe and Asia. A fiber-optic network has been laid across the country, something that only a few countries in the world can boast of. There is also around 2 GW of surplus energy capacity, which is one of the most important resources today. This ambition is becoming a reality," he said.

Hasanov noted that many government services in the country have already been digitized or are in the process of digitalization.
