Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan sign deal on logistics, implementation of joint projects

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have discussed the further development of multimodal transportation along the Trans-Caspian international transport route, Report informs, citing the press service of the Kazakh Railways that the discussions occurred at a meeting between Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Railways Nurlan Sauranbayev and Chairman of Azerbaijani Railways Javid Gurbanov.

The parties noted the need to increase the capacity along this route and reduce transit time. At the end of the meeting, an agreement was signed on cooperation in the logistics sector and in the implementation of joint projects.

In 2021, transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route amounted to 586,200 tons, container traffic to 25,270 TEU. In the first quarter of this year, transportation amounted to 266,300 tons, which is 123% more than in the same period last year. Container traffic amounted to 5,847 TEU, which is 19% more than in the same period last year.
