UN-Habitat welcomes and supports the Smart and Resilient Settlements for Safe Return Package (4SRP) initiative, Anna Soave, head of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Azerbaijan, said at a panel session on climate challenges and urban solutions in fragile and conflict-affected regions, Report informs.
"UN-Habitat supports this initiative because adequate shelter is not only a development outcome but also a foundation for stability, social cohesion, and peace. We see this initiative as part of a broader and highly relevant international dialogue. This is becoming one of the defining challenges of the 21st century," she noted.
According to Soave, the organization is closely monitoring COP31, focusing on integrated and scalable approaches that integrate climate finance, territorial restoration, and conflict-sensitive principles.
She also emphasized that the UN Human Settlements Programme is ready to accompany this process, together with its partners, share experiences, facilitate knowledge exchange, and integrate the initiative into a broader international context.
