Azerbaijan has become one of the important transport and logistics hubs of Eurasia thanks to its favorable geographical position and modern infrastructure, Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the international forum “Digital Almaty 2025,” Report informs.
According to Asadov, cooperation with members and partners of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is rich with numerous mutually beneficial projects in various fields.
"The continuous positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation is particularly satisfying. Last year, the volume of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and EEU countries increased by more than 14%. Investment cooperation is developing on an upward trend. Large investment projects are being implemented between our countries," he said.
Asadov emphasized that Azerbaijan has established joint investment funds with some EEU partners to mobilize mutual investments in various sectors of the economy, and this initiative is already bearing fruit.
"Traditionally, we attach great importance to transportation and transit cooperation. Thanks to its favorable geographical position at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, as well as its modern infrastructure, Azerbaijan has become one of the important transport and logistics hubs of Eurasia.
East-West and North-South international transport corridors pass through Azerbaijan's territory. We have ensured the successful operation of all components of these transport routes in our territory," he noted.
The prime minister also noted that the flow of cargo through Azerbaijan's territory is steadily increasing. Last year, there was an 8% increase in transit transportation volume.
"Taking into account the growth dynamics of cargo flow, we are taking active steps to increase the capacity of the above-mentioned corridors. Regular work is being carried out to improve railway, automobile, and port infrastructure in Azerbaijan's territory, and we are pleased to offer this infrastructure to our partners in the EEU to meet their transit needs," Asadov added.
