Global steel production surges over 12%

July has seen an increase in steelmaking over July 2020 in all top ten countries, except China.

Report informs, citing Interfax, that the list of first ten steelmaking countries by results of July 2021 is as follows: China (86.79 million tonnes, an 8.4% drop over July 2020), India (9.85 million tonnes, 13.3% growth), Japan (8.01 million tonnes, 32.5% growth), the United States (7.48 million tonnes, 37.9% growth), Russia (6.67 million tonnes, 13.4% increase), South Korea (6.13 million tonnes, 10.8% growth), Turkey (3.23 million tonnes, 2,5% tonnes), Germany (3.02 million tonnes, 24.7%), Brazil (3.01 million tonnes, 14.5%) and Iran (2.55 million tonnes, 9%).

Italy (2.25 million tonnes, 29.2% growth), Vietnam (2.23 million tonnes, 61.6%), Taiwan (China, 1.96 million tonnes, 14.8%), Ukraine (1.88 million tonnes, 7.1%) and Mexico (1.71 million tonnes, 36% growth) follow.

In general, July marked a 3.3% increase in steelmaking compared to the same period last year - to 161.69 million tonnes.

During the seven months of this year, 64 countries produced 1.17 billion tonnes of steel, a growth of 12.4% over the same period last year.
