Azerbaijan posts nearly 18% growth in sugar production

In the first two months of this year, Azerbaijan produced 33,100 tons of sugar and sugar sand, marking an increase of 17.8% compared to the same period in 2024.
Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee, that this growth reflects a strong upward trend in the country's sugar production.
However, the production of sweet confectionery items in Azerbaijan has decreased by 7.5% over the past year, totaling 1,357.5 tons.
As of March 1, the sugar reserves in the country amounted to 2,000 tons, while the reserves of sweet confectionery products stood at 67.7 tons. These figures show a significant decrease, with sugar reserves dropping by 8.7 times and confectionery stocks declining by 39.4% compared to last year.
