World Championship: Azerbaijani wrestler reaches semifinal

The last two Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers joined the fight at the world championship in Oslo, Norway, Report informs.

Turan Bayramov, 70 kg, defeated Adam Batirov (Bahrain) in the 1/8 finals. He advanced to the semifinals, defeating James Green (US) in the quarterfinals. Bayramov will face Mahammadmurad Hajiyev (Poland) on the way to the final.

Islam Ilyasov, 97 kg, lost to Alexander Khushtin (Belarus) in the 1/8 finals. If Khushtin reaches the final, Ilyasov will take part in consolation matches tomorrow.

The semifinals will start at 06.30 pm (GMT +4).

Today, Osman Nurmahammadov, 92 kg, will also compete for the bronze medal. He will face Omarhaji Mahammadov (Belarus). Medal competitions will start at 08.00 pm (GMT +4).

Only Abubakr Abakarov, 86 kg, has won a bronze medal among Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers.
