Sports Research Center announces Candidates for "Winners of the Year-2018" - LIST

Baku. 7 December. REPORT.AZ/ The Sports Research Center has launched the "Winners of the Year-2018" project.

Information supporter of the project, which has been implemented for the 6th consecutive year, is Report news agency and its sponsor is "İl`Azero" company.

Compared to previous projects,  the names and content of some nominations have been changed

The "Team of the Year" and "Sports Journalist of the Year" were removed from the list of nominations.

It was decided to carry out the selection for the title of "Chief Coach of the Year" on all types of sport. At the initial stage of the project, nominations will be held among sports journalists working in various mass media (one of each media outlet), on "Sportsperson of the Year", "Athlete of the Year", "Foreign athlete of the Year", "Footballer of the Year", "Coach of the Year" "Sports competition of the year”. Apart from proposed candidates, journalists can also choose a person who they think deserves it.The winner will be announced and will be awarded at the Baku Olympic Stadium on December 18.

1. Arif Rahimov - promoter of the Formula 1 Grand Prix

2. Farid Gayibov - President of the European Gymnastics Union

3. Mahir Mammadov - vice-president of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and International Chess Federation

4. Namig Aliyev - President of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation

5. Sadig Sadigov - Vice-president of Azerbaijan Judo Federation

6. Sahib Alekperov - Vice-president of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation

7. Yashar Bashirov - President of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation\

II.Athlete of the Year

1. Eldaniz Azizli (Greco-Roman wrestling) - European and world champion

2. Hidayat Heydarov (judo) - silver medalist of the European championship and bronze winner of the world championship

3. Irina Zaretska (karate) - world champion and silver medalist of European championship

4. Maria Stadnik (female wrestling) - European champion and silver medalist of world championship

5. Mikhail Malkin (tumbling) - European champion

6. Shahriyar Mammadyarov (chess player) - second in the Bidders Tournament

7. Turan Bayramov (freestyle wrestling) - Olympic champion among juniors

8. Kokauri (Judo) - silver medalist of the World Championships

9. Vugar Talibov (judo) - Olympic champion among juniors

10. Yelizaveta Luzan (rhythmic gymnastics) - Olympic champion among juniors
