Baku. 6 March. REPORT.AZ/ The Ministry of Youth and Sports hosted a meeting with bronze medalist of Shooting World Cup held in Delhi, India Ruslan Lunyov.

Report informs, Head of sport department of Ministry of Youth and Sports Farid Mansurov, sportsman’s mother and personal trainer, bronze medalist of 2004 Athens Summer Olympic Games, Vice-president of Azerbaijan Shooting Federation Irada Ashumova participated at the meeting.

F. Mansurov told that bronze medal is a good result for our sportsman. He congratulated R.Lunyov with this achievement and shared his thoughts: “I congratulate you. This is a magnificent result. Shooting sport has tradition in our country. We have such Olympic champion and medalist like Zemfira Mehdahaddinova and Irada Ashumova. But we had a long gap in terms of medal winning in this sport. Everybody was looking for a good result. At last Ruslan Lunyov won bronze medal in Shooting World Cup in India. We believe that more achievements will follow this”.

R. Lunyov told that winning bronze medal was a surprising result for him. He expressed confidence in even better result in 4th Islamic Solidarity Games: “Chinese sportsmen were main rivals. They took first two positions. I qualified to final. Winning bronze medal was a surprise for me. But I was putting efforts and training intensively for this. Islamic Solidarity Games are coming. This is a major tournament. World and European championships will also follow. I will compete in several branches in Islamic Games. I believe that I will win gold medal”.

Notably, Ruslan Lunyov won 25-meter shooting bronze medal in the World Cup. He reached this achievement by scoring 579 points in qualification stage and 23 points in final stage.
