Baku. 11 October. REPORT.AZ/ Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) stepped down from candidacy to host 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
Report informs, President of CONI Geovanni Malago has made a statement. He stated that they already sent exit letter to International Olympic Committee.
Newly elected mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi announced their intention to quit race to host Olympic Games on September 21. Soon after this statement decision was ratified by city council.
Let’s mention that Rome hosted Olympic games in 1960. Italian capital was among candidates for 2020 Olympic Games, but later Italian government decided to step down due to economic crisis. List of candidates to host 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be announced on September 13 in Lima, Peru. After Rome’s quit three cities - Los Angeles (USA), Paris (France) and Budapest (Hungary) remain as candidates.
